Abigail works within NPC’s Research & Consulting team. She conducts research and strategic reviews for a range of clients, and leads our social investment work.
Abigail works with social investors and funders to help them measure their impact and with charities and social enterprises considering social investment. She co-authored Best to invest?, a guide to help funders think through the benefits and risks of social investment, and also wrote an evaluation of Allia’s Future for Children Bond, the first opportunity for retail investors to invest in a social impact bond. More recently, she wrote NPC’s guide to charity financial analysis, Keeping account, and Lessons and opportunities: perspectives from providers of social impact bonds.
Abigail began her career at the Schroder Capital Management International and spent over 15 years in investment, working in Hong Kong and London. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and was a Director of Threadneedle Investment Management responsible for assets under management of £500m invested in emerging markets across retail and institutional funds. She is an experienced financial analyst and was among the first foreign fund managers to make institutional investments in India and China. Abigail has also worked as an independent consultant for an actuary, advising pension fund trustees on their asset allocation and manager selection.
