Richard Hawkes is the Chief Executive of the British Asian Trust, which was established by the Prince of Wales in 2007 to maximise the impact of the British Asian Diaspora in supporting positive development programmes across South Asia. It focuses on anti-trafficking, education, livelihoods and mental health, working in partnership with NGOs, private enterprise and governments.
Richard was previously the Chief Executive of Scope, the UK disability charity, for five years and prior to that he held senior positions in a number of UK and international development organisations including VSO and Sense International. He has held numerous trustee and board roles, including being Chair of the Care and Support Alliance, Chair of BOND (the umbrella body for UK international NGOs) and a member of the BBC Appeals Advisory Committee.
